Law for Justice
Feeling safe in your own home, neighborhood, local store, park and streets should be expected. Unfortunately there are times when you and your family’s safety and trust is threatened and as your next Prosecutor you can expect Rep. David Law to prosecute these crimes to the fullest extent. Rep. Law has been the primary sponsor of the House Bills and Public Announcements listed below and will continue to be tough on crime once in the Prosecutor’s Office.
HB 4528 (PA 35 of 05)
- Law to eliminate the statute of limitations for conspiracy to commit murder. Originated from a case in Oakland County and worked with the Prosecutor's office on it.
HB 4577 (PA 337 of 05)- Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act (Qui Tam)
- Worked with Attorney General Cox on this effort to provide whistleblower protection and financial incentives to individuals who have knowledge of Medicaid fraud. The Legislature has a follow up bill (5216 of 07) that will bring Michigan into compliance with the Federal DRA. This would result in millions of more federal healthcare dollars going to Michigan, with just a minor technical change to the statute.
HB 5490 (PA 128 of 06), HB 5824 (PA 130 of 06)
- Allow law enforcement to place forfeiture funds in interest bearing accounts for security purposes, as well as additional funding earmarked for law enforcement.
HB 4893 of 07- Airsoft Guns
- A bill package to prohibit the use of imitation firearms to deceive or intimidate law enforcement. This is a joint effort w/ Farmington Hills Police Chief Bill Dwyer.
HB 6075 (PA 454 of 06) - Airport Security Bill
- Increase the penalties for trespassing on airport grounds. Rep. Law worked with Oakland County Airport in this effort.
HB 6182 (PA 668 of 06)
- Require notification to the department of corrections when an arrest warrant is issued against a parolee. This legislation arose out of the Selepak incident.
HB 6271 (PA 544 of 06)
- Increase the penalties for contempt of court. This was an effort worked on with Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael D. Warren, Jr.
HB 4630 of 05
- A bill to expand the admissibility of preliminary breath tests as evidence. Issue raised by Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
HB 4631 of 05
- A bill to allow out of state violations to enhance drunk driving penalties. Issue raised by Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
HB 5463 of 05- Senior Annuity Protection
- A bill to provide protections for seniors via certain regulations of the sale of annuities to those over 65.
HB 4466 of 07
- A bill to include domestic violence as a predicate offense for felony murder. Worked on with Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.

- A bill to increase penalties for drive by shootings
